For the second time in the Division I era, the RIT men's hockey team will head to the NCAA Tournament. The third-seeded Tigers (19-14-5) defeated No. 5 seed Mercyhurst University (19-16-4), 5-1 in the Atlantic Hockey Championship in front of 3,554 fans at Blue Cross Arena on Saturday.

The No. 4 seed RIT men's hockey team (19-14-5) will face Minnesota State University (29-7-3), the No. 1 overall seed in the 2015 NCAA Division I men's hockey Midwest Regional on Saturday, March 28, at the Compton Family Arena in South Bend, Indiana at 4 p.m.

The other two teams in the regional include the No. 2 seed University of Nebraska Omaha (18-12-6) and third-seeded Harvard University (21-12-3). RIT and Minnesota State will play the early game, while the Nebraska Omaha and Harvard game is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Saturday's winners will meet in the Regional Final on Sunday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m., with the regional champions advancing the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Frozen Four in Boston, Mass., on April 9 and 11.

RIT, the 2015 Atlantic Hockey Conference Champions, will be making its second appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament and 15th in program history. In 2010, RIT advanced to the NCAA Division I Frozen Four, defeating Denver and New Hampshire in the East Regional, before falling to Wisconsin in the national semifinal.

The Tigers enter the 2015 NCAA Tournament riding a seven-game winning streak, out-scoring opponents, 30-10 over that stretch.

Fans interested to purchasing tickets to the Midwest Regional can do so through the NCAA website. More information about the regional will be made available on Monday.
