The Gordon Field House and Activities Center, named in honor of the generous contributions of Lucius “Bob” Gordon and his wife, Marie, not only accommodates the growing demand from the campus and the community for recreational space, but also affords event space for university-wide gatherings of nearly 7,000 people. It helps build a sense of community and campus pride as well as bring increased community visibility for RIT.
About the Facility
The 160,000-square-foot, two-story center includes:
- A 60,000-square-foot field and event venue
- An aquatics center for both competition and recreational use
- A fully equipped 16,000-square-foot fitness center
- 1,752-square-foot meeting space
- Green Room
Over 200,000 visitors attend university, community, trade and industry, entertainment, and sporting events on campus each year. In addition to the regular daily usage of the facilities, additional opportunities for campus and community events in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center include:
- Concerts and other entertainment events
- Brick City Homecoming and Alumni Weekend
- Presidential debates
- Summer trade and association conferences
- NCAA Division-III playoffs and championship events
- Career and job fairs
- Camps and officiating clinics
- Special regional events such as high school sectional playoffs , Monroe County Special Olympics, Empire State Games and the Deaf Olympics
