Location

Gordon Field House - Main Floor

This interactive exhibit highlights the use of technology within the medical and behavioral health fields in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. Attendees can participate in the following exhibits/activities: 1) a customizable Behavioral Health Avatar Coach demonstration where attendees will learn how avatars can coach individuals to obtain healthy behavior change in multiple languages; 2) the Zenbo Robot, a robotic assistant for mental health treatment; 3) use of Gray Matters, a virtual meditation and coping skill game that trains people to control and calm their brain wave through a visual, gamified platform; 4) BrainFire, an oxycodone overdose bystander intervention VR and platformer game that brings individuals into the minds of an individual who is overdosing; 5) 3D demonstration of the impact of substance use on organs in the body and 6) Digital Icon Emotion Measure (DIEM) demonstration of a digital tool used to measure emotions. 1. RITch®CBT Digital Avatar Assisted Tool: Attendees will learn about the development of behavioral health avatar coaches at RIT. The avatars, focus on helping those with substance use and negative mood. These avatars were developed utilizing patients’ feedback allowing for more effective personalizing of the technology to the patients’ diverse backgrounds and specific needs. Avatar coaches help inform people about how substance use and negative mood may affect their health. Attendees will be able to customize avatars to match their preferences and interact with avatar coaches via tablets. 2. Zenbo: A small robotic assistant has been adapted to interact with users who are experiencing mental health symptoms. Zenbo guides patients through psychological assessments and techniques. 3. Gray Matters: a virtual meditation physical arousal training program where the mind is used as a controller in a gamified visual aid. The game is responsive and reinforcing to individuals’ control of the neural arousal and output. 4. BrainFire: Attendees will assist an individual who has overdosed on Oxycodone by identifying the overdose materials, contacting medical services, and traveling into an individual’s brain to keep his neurons firing manually until EMTs arrive in this VR bystander training game; 5. Virtual Brain Simulation: Attendees will be able to participate in a display and demonstration of the effects of substance use on organs in the body. This 3D simulation tool demonstrates the impact of certain drugs on the heart, liver, lungs, and neurons. Notice the significant impact of these drugs and see how the health organs change with the introduction of drugs. The use of drugs can lead life threatening problems including overdose and death. 6. Digital Measurement for Emotions: Attendees will participate in a demonstration of a digital tool used within clinical settings. The Digital Icon Emotion Measure (DIEM) is designed to measure emotion symptoms using the unique capabilities that are only available on digital interfaces. DIEM uses interactive iconography to prompt patients to report emotion type and intensity without written prompts. DIEM is one of the first digital assessment tools designed to be integrated across cultures, languages, and digital platforms.
