Highlights of Rochester Institute of Technology’s Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend this year include a performance by actor and comedian Kevin Hart; a talk by actor, director, and author Michael J. Fox; and the return of RIT men’s hockey as the Tigers face St. Lawrence University at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester.
Hart will perform at 9 p.m. Oct. 14 in RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activities Center. Fox will speak to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests as the Horton Distinguished Speaker at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 in RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activities Center. The RIT men’s hockey homecoming game will be held at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Blue Cross Arena.
Formerly a shoe salesman, Hart debuted on an amateur night at a Philadelphia comedy club to fast success. He has filmed three hour-long stand-up specials, including Laugh at My Pain, which earned more than $15 million in ticket sales, one of the most successful comedy concerts in history. He has landed roles in several feature films, including Scary Movie 3, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Fool’s Gold.
With two long-running sitcoms, multiple Emmy Awards, several lifetime achievement awards and a top-grossing film series to his credit, Fox has made a name for himself as one of the country’s most prominent actors. He starred in the TV series Family Ties and Spin City, as well as the Back to the Future trilogy, Teen Wolf and The American President.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 at the age of 39, Fox has become an advocate for increased research funding and awareness for Parkinson’s disease through The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Fox is also the bestselling author of several books, including his 2002 memoir Lucky Man, a New York Times and national bestseller.
Tickets for Kevin Hart are $15 for RIT students, $30 for RIT faculty/staff/alumni/ parents and $40 for the general public. Tickets for Michael J. Fox are $10 for RIT students, $15 for RIT faculty/staff/alumni/parents and $25 for the general public. Tickets for RIT’s men’s hockey versus St. Laurence University are $6 for RIT students/alumni, $10 for RIT faculty/staff and $12 for the general public.
