Position Summary: Monitor access to the recreational facilities and assist in the operations management of the indoor and outdoor recreation facilities. Manage the Equipment Cage and provide recreational support services (lockers, equipment, towels, information) to recreation participants.
Essential Tasks:
- Monitor the electronic ID card reader and turnstile and check picture ID’s for proper identification
- Enforce recreation facility and department policies
- Sell guest passes to RIT sponsored guests
- Respond to door alarms that sound in designated areas of the building
- Monitor a variety of computer applications including Innosoft Fusion (Member Management), Alarm Monitoring (facility security), EMS (facility reservations) and Humanity (Employee Scheduling)
- Distribute information and answer questions about facility hours, programs, services, personnel, equipment, lockers and departmental policies
- Loan-out equipment for wellness, intramural and recreational use
- Manage laundry and towel service
- Monitor the building intercom, alarm key pads and security camera system
- Open and close the facilities according to proper procedures
- Respond to accidents and injuries
- Initiate and execute emergency action protocols when needed
- Respond to member questions, concerns and suggestions
Non-essential Tasks:
- Assist with reservations and the set-up of equipment in the SLC and Field House as needed
- Assist the supervisor on duty and professional staff needs
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Dependable, reliable, responsible, and personable
- Excellent communication, customer service and problem-solving skills
Qualifications/Special Skills Preferred:
- Familiarity with recreation facilities, rules, policies and offerings
- Students who are able to work opening shifts (5:45 A.M. – 8:00 A.M.) during the week
- Students who are able to work weekends and during the break
- American Sign Language skills
Hourly Wage: $15.00
Application Process:
- Recreation Attendant interviews are generally held once per year. Applications are available Spring Term (week 6 – 8) for those seeking employment the following summer and/or fall. When positions are available, an advertisement will be posted at the SLC Equipment Cage, SLC Main Office and on the SLC lobby TV’s. A QR code will be provided with a link to the application.
