Dr. Liu's commitment to scholarly pursuits revolves around the convergence of vision-language intelligence and robust AGI, driven by a broader mission to cultivate adaptable AI systems capable of addressing significant societal challenges. This includes applications such as autonomous UAVs for product delivery, agricultural automation, and robotics safety.
His scholarly endeavors have earned commendation, evidenced by the endorsement of his research by esteemed entities such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of Defense (DoD), particularly in the realm of robot intelligence.
Since joining RIT, Dr. Liu has made substantial contributions to his field, as reflected in his extensive publication portfolio. Noteworthy conferences showcasing his research include CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICLR, NIPS, ICML, AAAI, IJCAI, ACL, EMNLP, WWW, IROS, among others. Beyond research dissemination, Dr. Liu effectively translates his well-established research into classroom teaching, with two courses gaining popularity among the College of Engineering.
In addition to his RIT responsibilities, Dr. Liu actively engages with the academic community, assuming pivotal roles in prestigious organizations. Since 2023, he has served as an Area Chair at CVPR and holds senior program committee positions for AAAI and IJCAI, playing a central role in shaping scholarly discourse in these domains. Furthermore, his expertise is sought after as an associate editor for esteemed journals, including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT), Neurocomputing, Multimedia Tools and Applications (MTAP), and ACM Journal on Autonomous Transportation (JATS).
