HAMAD GHAZLE IS A PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR OF THE DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY PROGRAM. HIS RESEARCH FOCUSES ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY, TECHNIQUES, PROCEDURES, EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION AND STUDENT AND PROGRAM ASSESSMENTS.
Dr. Ghazle bears total responsibility of the planning and delivery of the ultrasound educational program which includes organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, and continued development of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
He also oversees RIT's Ultrasound Scanning Suite, a high-tech ultrasound laboratory which provides practical experience to medical professionals and students. Drawing from both clinical and industrial experiences, he works with a variety of companies and medical facilities to develop new ultrasound techniques and products, improving marketability, work flow and efficiency.
Dr. Ghazle has authored and coauthored many papers published in peer-reviewed journals. These publications have focused on various aspects of clinical ultrasound and disease processes. His latest publications focused on the ultrasound appearance of skeletal dysplasia, testicular sarcoidosis, nerve sheath tumors and the study of the effect of catheter insertion into bile ducts. The latter study has revealed results which were of interest to the medical community and prompted a presentation at a national ultrasound conference. Dr. Ghazle is working on a project studying the ultrasound appearance and the complications of injecting Teflon or Deflux in the area where the ureter meets the bladder to treat urinary reflux.
Dr. Ghazle is the president of the Rochester Ultrasound Society. He is also a site visitor of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and inspects ultrasound programs nationwide. He has served on the Government Relations Committee and as a Western Upstate Representative for the National Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography where he received the Advanced Practice Sonographer designation. He has received the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honorary Society Mentor Award and the Student Affairs Award for Promoting Learning outside the Classroom. He has also been nominated for the National Distinguished Educator Award in Sonography as well as the RIT's Gender Diversity & Inclusiveness Award. He has also received the 2002 RIT Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching. Ghazle was included in the 2009 edition of Marquis' Who's Who in America
