Venera Demukaj

Venera Demukaj is Assistant Professor of Economics at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Kosovo. Her main areas of research are gender and social inclusion, foreign aid and trade policy.
Dr Demukaj has a PhD in Political Economy with focus on foreign aid in post-war countries. She teaches Development Economics, Natural Resource Economics, Environmental Economics and International Trade and Finance. Dr Demukaj also coordinates and supervises Honors students’ research projects.
She is also member of the Advisory Board of the GAP Institute in Prishtina and member of the CEFTA LSEE Academic Network in London. Dr Demukaj’s current research focuses on women and education in Kosovo. She is Co-Principal Investigator of the project “Generation Z enters STEM” supported by the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education. Project is being implemented in cooperation with Linnaeus University in Sweden. The main goal of this project is to initiate cross-institutional and multiple-stakeholder collaboration to address the engagement of youth in STEM education. Ultimately, this project will build a sustainable body of knowledge to address the challenges of achieving gender equality in STEM education in the scope of Agenda 2030 both for Sweden and for Kosovo.
