Portrait sessions this weekend benefit Big Shot
Options include students-only professional LinkedIn shots along with family and pet photos
Looking to add a picture—or a better head shot—to your all-important LinkedIn profile, or update the family’s or a pet’s photo? Well now’s your chance as organizers of RIT’s Big Shot offer a number of options during portrait sessions this weekend.
Photo sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in the Neblette Conference Room in Gannett Hall.
Payments can be made using cash or checks only (checks should be made payable to RIT). All funds will benefit this year’s photo-making event at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in two weeks.
One option, for students only, is a professional portrait (two to three images) taken for LinkedIn. The first 50 students to pre-register for these sessions in the Co-op and Career Services Office inside the Bausch & Lomb building will be free (appointment time is necessary). Contact Lisa Vasaturo at lmvoce@rit.edu for information.
A second option open to faculty, staff, students, friends and family (walk-ins welcome, no pre-registrations or appointments are necessary) offers portraits for LinkedIn and other professional applications (two to three images) for $10, or walk-ins for individual, family or group portraits (6-10 images) with the following pricing:
- 1-2 people: $25
- 3-4 people: $30
- 5-8 people: $40
- 8 or more people: $60
Weather permitting, photographers will be able to accommodate pet photos outside of Gannett Hall, not in the building. Pets are the same as people pricing.
RIT’s 28th annual community photography project known as the Big Shot will capture a spectacular nighttime photograph of Cowboys Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
Big Shot prints, books and notecards are available online at the RIT Big Shot website and can be purchased at anytime. Organizers also invite people to “like” the event on Facebook.
Dallas-area residents will join RIT students, faculty, staff and alumni at this year’s event. The photo will be taken after sunset around 8:30 p.m. on March 23, rain or shine.
Since RIT started its Big Shot project in 1987, the event has traveled to several national landmarks and twice crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Through their viewfinders, Big Shot photographers have captured such landmarks as The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas; the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York City; Pile Gate in Dubrovnik, Croatia; the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden; and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
Nikon Inc. has been a longtime sponsor of the Big Shot and is again among the sponsors this year. Additional sponsors this year include Arlington Camera, Tactical Impulse, AMR Corporation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Association of Texas Photography Instructors, Love Hope Strength Foundation, and Art on the Greene.
