Allen Lewis
Allen Lewis (1873-1957) is well known for his illustration and etching work. He studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme and his work was accepted into the Paris Salon in 1900. He was later involved with the Photo – Secession and had a photograph published in Camera Work. Lewis taught at the Art Students League in New York and at the New School for Social Research. He also illustrated books for Walt Whitman, Charles Brooks, and Honoré de Balzac.
