Emile Albert Gruppe

Although born in Rochester, NY, Emile Gruppe (1896-1978) was renowned for his paintings of the New England landscape and seascape, having spent most of his career in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Gruppe's painting were heavily influenced by the impressionists, particularly Monet. His father was the landscape artist Charles Gruppe (1860-1940).
