Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez
Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, Juan Carlos came to the United States in 1986. He received his Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Master's at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), School for American Crafts. Having taught as an adjunct professor at RIT since 1994, Juan Carlos joined the Metals Department as an Assistant Professor in 2001 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007. He is the winner of numerous awards, including anew York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. He has been involved in public art projects in Rochester, including the creation of several benches for downtown and the creation of several steel sculptures. He exhibits both his jewelry and sculpture nationally and internationally including Craft Alliance, St. Louis, Missouri; Calvin College Center Art Gallery in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Konkuk University, Seoul Korea; Museum of Natural History, Cleveland, Ohio and the Fuller Craft Center in Massachusetts. In addition, Juan Carlos continues to create jewelry and sculpture at his Rochester, NY studio.
