Leo Kaplan
Leo Kaplan (1912-2012) was born in Binghamton, NY and attended the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI, now RIT) where he studied illustration and advertising art. He graduated in 1932. He joined the US Air Force in 1942 and spent 2 1/2 years in England as a First Sergeant with a Ferry and Transport unit. After the war, he lived in Rochester, NY and worked at Great Lakes Press until his retirement in 1976. He continued to live and create his unique assemblages in Florida.
In 1968, he was honored by RIT with an “Outstanding Alumnus" award.
