Notes
This series was created using mathematical formulas. Each separate square along the way displays the tone that is an exact mid-point between the lighter square on one side and the darker square on to the other. He made a decision at one point to work exclusively with black and white drawings and paintings. Pratt had the notion that "simple is complicated enough." The square has no figurative or natural connections but displays logic and orderliness. Pratt's gray scale paintings were featured in a one man show at the North Carolina Museum of Art before his untimely death.
