Virginia Jeffery Smith

Virginia Smith was well known in the Rochester art world, both for her painting and her tenure as art critic for the Rochester Times-Union. She graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts, but later studied at the Mechanics Institute. A native of Rochester, Smith hailed from a family of artists and spent the majority of her 100 years in the area. She continued to paint until she was in her late eighties.
