Now is the time
As technology advances, job availability tends to shift. According to Forbes, our current technology advancements are opening up career opportunities for tech savvy supply chain managers who can out-compete as well as work alongside automated machinery. The article claims that “Supply chain is relatively new as a business career choice. The cement is still wet and technology is opening a lot of doors. Now is a great time to imagine the job you want and find the tools to do it.” Saunders provides resources such as The Construct makerspace, used for rapid prototyping, Saunders Consulting Group, the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, and Venture Creations Incubator for students to build their careers while in college.
Earn high wages
Supply chain industries provide services that encompass multiple aspects of the economy and product creation. From raw materials to finished product, SCM is in on the action. Harvard Business Review published that “The U.S. supply chain contains 37% of all jobs, employing 44 million people. These jobs have significantly higher than average wages, and account for much of the innovative activity in the economy.”
Bachelor’s Degree = Bigger Salary
Salary.com reports that the median salary for a supply chain manager with a bachelor’s degree is typically between $105,021 and $112,747. Their research also shows that only 6% of supply chain managers with only a high school diploma are able to break into the industry at all. As education level rises, so does salary.
