RIT recognized as No. 98 in prestigious national university ranking by ‘U.S. News’

Excellence in cooperative education and internships, academic programs helps university rise in rankings

Among other recognitions, RIT ranked 5th for game/simulation development in the ‘U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges’ rankings for 2024. RIT rose to No. 98 in the “National Universities” ranking.

Rochester Institute of Technology is ranked 98th as a “National University” in the 2024 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges, jumping seven spots from last year. This list of 443 includes the nation’s best research universities that also offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates. Overall, U.S. News ranks more than 4,000 colleges and universities across the nation.

The report gave high marks to RIT’s co-op and internship program, which rose six spots, and as a “Best Value School,” and also ranked several programs in RIT’s colleges as among the best.

“While no ranking fully captures all dimensions of quality, I am gratified to see RIT rise in the prestigious national universities listing. I believe this is a direct result of the excellence of our students, faculty, and staff,” said RIT President David Munson. “The fact that RIT is seen as a top 100 university means that our commitment to technology, the arts, and design, a truly distinguishing factor, is being recognized by prospective students and parents, alumni, top researchers, and other universities. Our unique collection of creators and innovators is helping to shape the world through their ideas that inspire, inform, and improve lives.”
