WiC honored by RMSC
RIT’s Women in Computing (WiC) organization won the 2020 Rochester Museum & Science Center STEM Education Award in Higher Education Feb. 28. The award recognizes innovative teaching in STEM education. Educators and administrators who inspire students to understand, appreciate and apply STEM concepts were also recognized, including Lana Verschage, director of WiC; Deborah Jackson, staff assistant; and student leaders in WiC. https://rmsc.org/press-news/item/727-2020-stemaward-winners

RIT professor proposes new way to make artificial intelligence smarter and greener
The brain is a great source of inspiration for Alexander Ororbia, an assistant professor of computer science and cognitive science at RIT. By mimicking how neurons in the brain learn, Ororbia is working to make artificial intelligence more powerful and energy efficient. His research was recently published in the journal Science Advances.
