Enhanced 3D Sub-Canopy with Airborne and Spaceborne Full-Waveform LiDAR

The goal of this project is to capitalize on the potential of using remote sensing technologies identified in through field research in 2018 to support the expansion of conventional and organic table beet production by Love Beets USA, and improve profitability and sustainability. Research is proposed in the following areas: Acquiring high spatial resolution RGB (color) and multispectral (5-band MicaSense) imagery and applying morphological operators for improved prediction of plant populations after the crop stand has stabilized at plant emergence, as an early predictor of harvestable product and factory feedstock.
