Math Placement Exam (Required)
After June 1, 2024, you can take the Math Placement Exam. You must complete the Math Placement Exam by June 30, 2024. Your participation in the Math Placement Exam is mandatory to assess the level of your math background for your enrollment in a math course required by your program at RIT. The placement exam is designed to place you in the course that best meets your current math level. Please take the exam seriously and answer the questions independently to the best of your current ability. Refrain from using calculators, notes, textbooks, or any other aids during the Math Placement Exam. The use of additional support could result in inappropriate level course placement, potentially resulting in a lower final grade or a course failure.
To access the Math Placement Exam, go to Knowledge Tools Diagnostic Math Testing
and log in using the credentials found in your accepted student portal. If you attempt to log in with the incorrect credentials, you will receive a notice that you are not enrolled in the course. If you cannot locate your login information or receive a notice that you are not enrolled in the course, you should immediately contact examasst@rit.edu.
All students can take the Math Placement Exam a second time in an attempt to determine if they are more prepared for their first-semester math course. Students wishing to take the exam a second time are encouraged to complete the Math Diagnostic Assessment and engage in the learning modules to practice skills in identified areas of improvement. You have between June 3, 2024, and July 7, 2024, to complete your second attempt. To initiate a second attempt, email the Math Department at examasst@rit.edu.
