Honorlock AI Proctoring for Online Course Exams and Student Identity Verification
In Fall 2024, RIT updated its Student Identity Verification (SIV) in online courses policy to strengthen compliance with federal requirements. The change reflects an expectation that faculty use two or more methods to ensure student identity in an online course. Thank you to all online faculty for your adoption of the new process!
This coming semester, the Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce a new online proctoring tool that is exclusively available to faculty teaching online courses, as a possible additional method to assist you with identity verification.
Honorlock AI Proctoring, a newly embedded teaching tool within RIT’s myCourses, can provide a seamless online testing experience for students when myCourses Quizzes are used to assess learning. AI proctoring can help to ensure the academic integrity of virtual assessments. Additionally, the recording of a student’s online exam can be compared to the RIT approved ID in the Student Information System to meet RIT’s current SIV requirements.
Please note that the use of Honorlock AI Proctoring in either case is limited to online courses only at this time.
While the platform is user friendly, course preparation is highly recommended to ensure a positive student and faculty experience. If this is an option you would like to consider using, we encourage you to work with us now so that you are ready for Spring Semester!
