Accomplishments from Saunders Students
- Cindy Achedu (Okoh) Afolabi ’27 (Ph.D.) presented “The Interplay of Industry Specialization and Critical Audit Matters” at the RIT Graduate Student Showcase.
- Jingyun Su ’24 (management information systems), an exchange program student from Beijing Jiaotong University, has been accepted into and will attend the Ph.D. program at the University of Miami Herbert Business School.
- Aaron Liu '19 (software engineering) MS ’24 (technology innovation management and entrepreneurship) and Adib Ahnaf ’26 (human centered computing), competed at the 2024 Rice Business Plan Competition,
comprising Team Socian AI, in Houston, TX.
- Jessie Shelton ’26 (management information systems) was awarded the Isaac L. Jordan Sr. Endowed Scholarship.
- Honored at the Student Leadership Awards ceremony:
- Michael Pena ’23 (finance and management information systems) won the Student Life Award, for demonstrating significant leadership in RIT-related activities.
- Eddie DiTomasso ‘24 (finance and management information systems) and Ethan Feldman ‘24 (management information systems) won an Excellence in Student Life Award, for balancing academic success and engagement.
- Joshua Michaels-McClean ’26 (marketing) received the Community Impact Award, which recognizes students for “leadership, making improvements to the campus, or being involved in club activities.”
- Carlos Bindert ‘25 (supply chain management) and Joshua Michaels-McClean ’26 (marketing) were recipients of the Alfred L. and Ruby C. Davis Scholarship, given to students “who have demonstrated significant effort toward the improvement and quality of campus.”
- Bridget Dehond ’23 (management information systems), Jada Jennings ‘24 (management information systems), and Kavitha Rajkumar ’23 (accounting), '24 (MBA) were recipients of Legacy Leadership Awards, which recognize graduating student leaders who have made a lasting impact at RIT or in the greater Rochester community.
- Owen Cavo ’28 (finance and management information systems), and Jake O’Connor ’25 (finance) represented Saunders College of Business at the Quinnipiac University GAME (Global Asset Management Education) Forum. GAME bills itself as the largest student-run financial conference in the world.
- Logan Carolan ’22 (management information systems), currently a software engineer for General Motors, spoke at RIT as part of an Alumni Career Panel of members of the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity.
- Justin McFadden ’23 (management information systems) has been named Regional (Niagara) Collegian of the Year by Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity.
- Ferdinand Virtudes ’25 (management information systems), portrait photographer, shot group photos
of members of the RIT chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity.

- Hannah Smith '21 (EMBA), RD, CDN, received the 2024 Alumni Emerging Leader Award
from RIT's College of Health Sciences Technology as part of the annual Distinguished Alumni Award.
- Ebony Miller-Wesley '21 (EMBA), Susan Holliday '85 (MBA), and Natalie Sinisgalli-Kettavong '07 were featured among prominent community-builders in the Rochester Beacon's article Women at Work: The State of Gender Equity.

Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond
- Michael Palanski, Ph.D., professor in the department of management, gave a talk, “Managing Your Anxious Leader,” at Disrupt HR Rochester at The Strong National Museum of Play, 1 Manhattan Square Drive, Rochester.
- Chun Keung Hoi, Ph.D., professor in the department of finance and accounting, co-authored an article, “Does public scrutiny on corporate tax decisions affect directors? Effects of responsible (irresponsible) corporate tax practices on director reputation,
” published in Accounting and Business Research.
- Karen Humbert, Saunders associate director of advancement, has been promoted to director of advancement for Saunders.
- Michael Palanski, Ph.D., professor in the department of management, co-authored an article, “Perceptions of Ethicality: The Role of Attire Style, Attire Appropriateness, and Context,” in the Journal of Business Ethics, which is cited in a recent piece in Ladders: “No suit, no tie, no problem: Casual is the new formal for modern professionals."

- Frank Sklarsky named RIT’s 2024 Outstanding Alumnus. Frank Sklarsky, a successful businessman who with his wife, Ruth, has shared their philanthropy with RIT and others, is RIT’s 2024 Outstanding Alumnus.
- Saunders ranks among TFE Times’ top graduate programs. Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology received several rankings from TFE Times on their Top Graduate Programs lists for 2024.
- Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival set for April 27. Detecting deepfakes, a device to help grocery stores like Wegmans inspect strawberries and reduce waste, and even the economic impact of Taylor Swift are just a few of the nearly 400 exhibits at this year’s Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival.
- RIT students from across the globe launch entrepreneurial startups through the Simone Center. According to a 2023 Bloomberg article, over 5 million startup companies are founded each year in the United States. At RIT’s Albert J. Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, students are working together to turn their dreams of starting companies into reality.
- Saunders Ranked #1 for MIS by College Factual, 2024. Once again, Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology has been recognized for several of its programs by College Factual in its annual rankings.
- RIT study reveals public’s engagement with 2024 solar eclipse across America. A faculty researcher from Saunders College of Business has conducted a study capturing the public’s pre-event engagement with the 2024 solar eclipse happening across the U.S. next week.
- Ferdinand Virtudes completes photo shoot of Delta Sigma Pi. Ferdinand Virtudes ’25 (management information systems) is a member of the RIT chapter of Delta Sigma Pi (DSP), the professional business fraternity, and also a portrait photographer getting group photos of the fraternity members.
- The Competitive Sustainability Center Announces Strategy First University as Partner. The Competitive Sustainability Center (CSC) at RIT's Saunders College of Business is pleased to announce that partner, Strategy First University (SFU) in Burma, recently held a free two-day workshop on Circular Economy and Entrepreneurship.
