Accomplishments from Saunders Students
- Alena Pishchuk ‘23 (MBA) attended the Concordia Annual Summit
held in New York City with the world’s most influential business leaders, government officials, and nonprofit organizers to discuss and collectively pave a path toward a more equitable, sustainable future.
- Rachel Romaine ‘23 (MBA) has been recognized as a 2022 Otsuka Graduate Scholar by The Executive Leadership Council (ELC). The ELC promotes Black corporate talent by supporting the academic successes of Black undergraduate and graduate students. She will represent RIT at the 2022 ELC Honors Symposium in Washington, D.C.!
- Shreya Patil ‘23 (business analytics) is transitioning from a full-time professional to a full-time student by pursuing a master’s at Saunders. RIT provided her with a scholarship equivalent to 30% of her tuition to continue her education.
- Samantha Smith-Pisker ‘06 (imaging science) received a Women in Leadership scholarship and her employer, Raytheon Intelligence and Space,
is providing assistance to further her education. She is returning to RIT to participate in the Executive MBA program at Saunders.
- Sedrick Thomas ‘23 (software engineering), vice president of RIT’s artificial intelligence (AI) club, presented a poster at the AI@RIT Summit titled “Binary Classification with Spotify Songs: Inside Look at How Spotify Recommends Songs.”
- Students in the Saunders Cyber: Risk and Resilience course created a monthly newsletter in collaboration with chief RIT cartoonist Leigh Rubin titled “The Sketchy Cybersecurity Newsletter” to celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness month.

Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond
- Rick Lagiewski, Ph.D. and Victor Perotti, Ph.D. co-authored "Customer experiences and situational vulnerability: An exploration of hotel services during a disaster," published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management. The paper focuses on the growing role of hotels in supporting vulnerable individuals during hurricanes and other disasters.
- Molly McGowan, MPA, held a roundtable discussion based on her dissertation research titled “Leadership in the Tech Driven Workplace: A Discussion on the Need & Development of Soft Skills of Employees” at the ILA Global Conference.
- Rick Mislan, Ph.D., worked with students in the Saunders Cyber: Risk and Resilience course to create a monthly newsletter in collaboration with chief RIT cartoonist Leigh Rubin. “The Sketchy Cybersecurity Newsletter” kicked off in October to celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness month.
- Ali Tosyali, Ph.D., assistant professor of management information systems, and Gijs Overgoor,
assistant professor of marketing, co-authored "Detecting Fake Review Buyers Using Network Structure: Direct Evidence from Amazon." The paper discusses the problem of reputation platforms that have sellers manipulate their ratings. Their paper was featured in the UCLA Anderson Review.
- Melissa Masline has been promoted to assistant director of student services at Saunders College of Business.
- Matt Cornwell has been promoted to associate director of student services at Saunders College of Business.
- Clyde Eirikur Hull, Ph.D., received a $1 million grant from The State Department to conduct research via the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN) Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation project. The project concentrates on circular economy, extracting economic value from different types of waste as a step to mitigate climate change and empower local entrepreneurship in southeast Asian countries.

- Brooks Vertoske ‘21 (MBA) celebrated one year as a full-time marketing manager at EZaccessMD,
a healthcare company that focuses on telemedicine services available in 29 states.
- Megan Antonitto ‘14 (MBA), Daniel Beca ‘17 (MBA), Lindsay Connelly ‘18 (MBA), and Andrew Sewnauth ‘19 (MBA), have all been recognized on Rochester Business Journals’ Forty under 40! They were nominated by the community for the award, which highlights their professional success, community service, and commitment to inspiring change.
