Saunders Faculty and Staff Go Above and Beyond
- Soon Hyeok (Steve) Choi, Ph.D., assistant professor of international hospitality and service innovation, has won the Best Practitioner Research Award from the American Real Estate Society for his co-authored paper, “Pricing the Upside Potential to Downside Risk.” The award, which will be presented in March 2024 at the American Real Estate Society, includes a cash prize of $2,500.
- Duygu Akdevelioglu, Ph.D., assistant professor of management information systems, marketing, and analytics, co-authored an article with Vic Perotti, Ph.D., professor of management information systems, marketing, and analytics, “The impact of consumer personality and social network position on brand community engagement,
” in the Journal of Brand Management.
- Duygu Akdevelioglu, Ph.D., assistant professor of management information systems, marketing, and analytics, co-authored the article, “Thinking big about going small: Conceptualizing the human-technology integration spectrum,
” published in the Journal of Macromarketing.

- Nikolas Kelly '20 (supply chain management), co-founder and chief product officer of Sign-Speak,
and Nicholas Wilkins '19 (computational mathematics), '19 MS (computer science) were featured in The Rochester Beacon in an article, “Sign-Speak joins AWS Impact Accelerator.” Kelly placed first in the 2021 Vanden Brul Awards.
- Bill Michaels '89 (hotel/motel administration/management), president and owner of Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard, Inc., won the Mohawk Valley Choice Award for Best Tourism/Season Attraction. The award, sponsored by the Observer Dispatch/USA Today, "recognizes the finest businesses that contribute to the region's economic vitality and enrich the lives of its residents." The cider mill is located in Fly Creek, NY.

- Ondrej Frydrych ’97 (MBA) this summer established the Peggy Tirrell Endowed Scholarship for International Students—named after Saunders College’s popular senior associate director of graduate business programs and admissions.
- A growing cohort of RIT students are enrolling in the university’s Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degrees program, which provides pathways for highly focused, goal-oriented students to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in a shortened, consolidated experience.
- RIT is ranked 98th as a “National University” in the 2024 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges,
jumping seven spots from last year. This list of 443 includes the nation’s best research universities offering a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates.
- Christopher Ferrari '23 (political science and marketing)
completed his co-op at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Ferrari received the Kristine and John Simmons Public Policy Scholar Internship Fund to help make this co-op more affordable.
- Natali Valdez, assistant professor at Purdue University and Presidential Fellow at Yale University, visits RIT
to share her research on social and political factors surrounding maternal medical policy as the featured speaker for the 2023 Eugene H. Fram Signature Lecture in Critical Thinking.
- In the 2023 World University Online MBA Americas Rankings,
by QS Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Saunders College Online Executive MBA program placed 27th among 52 programs in three countries.
- RIT business students and faculty have experienced a number of major enhancements to Max Lowenthal Hall since the start of the fall semester, as the home of Saunders College of Business nears completion of a multi-million dollar expansion and renovation project.
- Saunders Executive MBA, according to the Online MBA Report,
ranked #15 among the top 25 private universities and colleges (7% of schools considered), #14 among top schools in the East, and #2 among top schools in New York State.
