Meet the Mentors

Performing Arts is abundant all over campus. RIT's faculty and staff (including those outside of the College of Liberal Arts) have a variety of performing arts interests ranging from bagpipes to bluegrass and stage design to dance. Our mentors are available for you to contact if you have a particular question or if you have an interest in learning more about their performing arts experiences. Meet all of the Performing Arts Mentors >

Joseph Fornieri
Professor
Department of Political Science, College of Liberal Arts
Areas of Interest: Singing, Guitar

Music has been like a “double life” that Joseph has tried to keep somewhat private and separate from work, aside from a circle of trusted friends. He has been playing pretty regularly since he was 19.  After College, he wanted to hone his musical ability (and of course dreamed of making it someday), so he moved to London and played in pubs until he was deported for working illegally. That is when he went to graduate school. It worked out for the best. He has been playing here in Rochester regularly since 1995 and plays in the Fornieri Brothers Band with his brother, nephew and adopted drum brother Mike Morgan.
