New Wehrheim Gallery prominently showcases internships, projects, and collaborative research

Photos from past internships, events, and research projects at Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M) stretch from floor to ceiling in the new Wehrheim Gallery on campus. Located on the first-floor of the SHED, the Wehrheim Gallery will be used to highlight work done as part of RIT’s partnership with GCV&M, which was established in 2016 and endowed in 2019 with a gift from Philip K. and Anne Wehrheim.

Creating new sounds with instruments and technology

Students in the History and Technology of Musical Instruments class taught by Matias Homar got the chance to take a discarded harpsichord and bring it to life, juicing it up with electricity, connecting it with a computer and monitors, and adding sensors, microphones, and even lights to it. The project is among the first to be conducted in RIT’s SHED. The $120 million facility has numerous maker spaces and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration.
