The U. S. Air Force is focused upon protecting the country—its air space and in cyber-space. As part of its training and educational efforts related to cyber defense initiatives, the Air Force is offering student internships at its Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y.

The RIT Air Force ROTC office is hosting a presentation and luncheon with Kamal Jabbour, senior scientist of information assurance at the Research Laboratory, at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 28 in the Campus Center, Bamboo Room. Jabbour will discuss the internship opportunities available, the application process as well as current initiatives taking place at the lab.

Internships would be open to upper class students in mathematics, computer engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, and take place during the summer beginning in June 2011.

Jabbour, a researcher in the field of information assurance, including defensive information warfare and offensive information warfare technology, provides expert technical consultation to other Air Force organizations, the U.S. Department of Defense, government agencies, universities and industry. He taught in the computer engineering department at Syracuse University before joining the Cyber Operations Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Registration is required for the presentation. Contact Elizabeth Fiorica, staff assistant for the Air Force ROTC program at 475-5197 or eafaira@rit.edu.
