Ph.D. students present mathematical modeling research
Narshini Gunputh, Jordana O’Brien, and Riley Supple, mathematical modeling Ph.D. students, presented at the first annual meeting of the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania Section of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM-NNP), held Oct. 20-22 at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J. Gunputh presented a poster on “Mathematical Modeling of Contact Lens Drug Delivery”; O’Brien gave an oral presentation on “A Mathematical Model of Particle Deposition in the Human Lung”; and Supple presented a poster on “Mathematical Modeling of Ocular Tissue Deformation due to Intraocular Pressure.” Kara Maki, associate professor, School of Mathematics and Statistics, advised the students on their work along with co-advisors Lucia Carichino, assistant professor, School of Mathematics and Statistics, and Jennifer O’Neil, assistant professor, Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
