SD-CoMETS Scholars - Eleanor Alley

Hi! I'm Eleanor Alley, I'm from Signal Mountain, Tennessee (suburb of Chattanooga), and I'm a first year student in the mechanical engineering technology program. I chose mechanical engineering because I like building things and knowing how they work. RIT actually chose engineering technology for me, but I'm very glad they did because tech is much more hands-on and is much better for my learning style. I'm super excited to learn more about the kinds of career opportunities I can have with a degree in mechE tech and figure out more specifically what I want to do while at RIT, and I think SD-CoMETS will help me do that by providing individualized support and mentorship.

I graduated from Signal Mountain Middle High School, where I was captain of the robotics team, second chair clarinetist in the concert band, and an IB diploma recipient. I also played in the marching band, was on several state-winning teams in the TEAMS competition (look up "teams tsa" if you're interested), and was active in the youth group at First Baptist Church, Chattanooga.

Here at RIT, I'm playing clarinet in the pep band and making cardboard weapons and armor in the Order of the Cardboard Knights, where my friend and I are currently working on a cardboard replica of the Scythe of Quakes from LEGO Ninjago. I also enjoy walking around campus and playing jackbox/card games with my friends.
