SD-CoMETS Scholars - Emily Willow
My name is Emily Willow and I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology. This major perfectly represents my career goals, since I have been interested in designing products that make life easier and more efficient since childhood. I also chose Engineering Technology versus Engineering because I prefer to work hands-on instead of learning the topics only based on the theory.
I feel as though I have been very successful during my time here at RIT. During the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, I participated in a variety of activities including Varsity Volleyball and notetaking for several of my classes. I have made the Dean’s List for every semester so far, and have done so with a 4.0 GPA. My goals and aspirations in college include keeping up with my high grades, continuing to work as a notetaker and play Club Volleyball, making connections, and growing my knowledge.
In the future, a career that I see for myself includes designing and improving products that we use every day. When I was younger, I was always coming up with product design ideas, and I hope to invent lots of useful products over time.
I just joined SD CoMETS this semester, but I can already see them helping me through my college experience in many ways. They’re helping me to grow more independent as a student, gain confidence, discover new study habits, learn how to communicate with fellow students and professors, and figure out how to grow connections throughout my field.
