SD-CoMETS Scholars - Leah Mestayer

My name is Leah Mestayer and I am majoring in Civil Engineering Technology. I chose this program because I am interested in building and designing things, and I have been since as long as I can remember.  Engineering Technology stood out to me because of the more algebra-focused classes and intensive labs. 

With SD-CoMETS, I hope to create more relationships with CET students and build my network. This scholarship will help me create professional skills and be more prepared for a corporate level job. I am very thankful for this opportunity to get more in touch with my college and major.

On campus I am a part of American Society for Civil Engineers, Concrete Canoe, as well as participating in intramural sports when I can. I also work with Year One Programs and University Arenas here on campus. When I am not working or participating in club activities, I love to read, paint, and hang out with friends. In the future, I hope to work on sustainable engineering projects and help make the world a more environmentally-friendly place through infrastructure.
