SD-CoMETS Scholars - Shay Dehaas O’Briant

I began at RIT with the declared major of mechanical engineering technology and can say it was definitely the right choice for me. I specifically chose MCET because I learn best through hands-on experience and truly enjoy my classes and the professors who also have years of work experience. My goal is to get the knowledge I need so that I may enter my field with the confidence and skills to work to improve the efficiency of the world. I am from Malibu, California. I enjoy playing volleyball, watching movies, and taking naps. Since I grew up on the beach I hope to one day be able to work with the Ocean Cleanup Organization or really anything that allows me to work with the sea. CoMets has given me a support group of fellow female students and faculties with the experience to help me and can relate to whatever struggles I face.
