SD-CoMETS Scholars - Amelia Tesch
- RIT/
- SD-CoMETS Scholarship Program
My name is Amelia Tesch and I am a first year Civil Engineering Technology student from Omaha, Nebraska. Growing up I have always loved picking up new crafting hobbies and creating things for my friends and family; currently I'm obsessed with crocheting and embroidery. I have also found a new love of dyeing my hair and changing it up very often! Math has always been a strong suit for me, and I love the idea of designing things, especially big structures like buildings, so this major felt perfect for me. Right now I'm thinking about next getting my masters in architecture and civil engineering is a great stepping stone to that. One of my goals has always been to design and build my own house so that I can make it personal to me as I know that that would provide so much joy in my life. This makes me think that I would enjoy a career mainly designing houses, but so far taking classes for my major has shown me that there's many different options to civil engineering, so I'm not really sure what path I'll go down yet. SD-CoMets has significantly made my transition into RIT much easier in that they provided me with a comfortable space to meet new people and explore new areas of campus. I'm excited to continue to go to events and further grow academically and professionally in the program!
