Print Media Alumnae Wins Rising Star Award
The College of Engineering Technology's Rising Star Award recognizes alumni who graduated within the past ten years for outstanding achievements early in their careers, for significant public service, or for helping to advance the careers of new professionals.
Stephanie Fallon '12 (new media publishing), '14 MS (print media) is among the 2019 recipients.
Fallon is the associate manager, prepress and digital production for ESPN's digital assets. She oversees image editing, print production, and digital edition output. During her tenure with ESPN The Magazine, which is now exclusively digital, the publication won multiple GAA Golden Cylinder Awards for print quality and the prestigious Ellie Awards, presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors to print and digital publications that consistently demonstrate superior execution of editorial objectives, innovative techniques, noteworthy enterprise, and imaginative design.
Prior to joining ESPN, Fallon completed a co-op with Hasbro’s print production department, helping to specify and produce packaging is used worldwide for well-known toys such as Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony, and Transformers.
Stephanie earned a bachelor of science degree in new media publishing and a master of science degree in print media. While at RIT, Stephanie served as a graduate mentor for SMS CONNECT, a multidisciplinary student group responsible for two projects – "Fonts From Your Fingertips" and "PawPrint" – both presented at Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival.
The award was presented to Fallon by Christine Heusner, senior lecturer in the department of graphic media science and technology and a mentor to Fallon her undergraduate and graduate study at RIT. Heusner recognized Fallon's accomplishments and initiative, stating that Fallon is a forward-thinking problem solver as evidenced by her course work and dedication to her profession. Since graduating, Fallon returns to RIT regularly as a guest speaker and to meet with students in the Magazine Production class.
