Bio
Erika J. Duthiers serves as the Assistant Vice President for Compliance & Ethics and Deputy General Counsel. In this role, she is responsible for leading the university’s internal processes for developing, promoting, and ensuring the university’s compliance with laws, regulations, and university policies. She also assists the General Counsel with legal matters affecting the university.
Prior to joining RIT in 2009, Erika was a senior associate at Nixon Peabody LLP, where she represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, and complex commercial litigation involving contracts, intellectual property, and employment discrimination in state and federal courts. Prior to her employment with Nixon Peabody LLP, she was a law clerk at the New York State Court of Appeals.
Erika holds a B.A., from Manhattan College, and a J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University. She is active in the Rochester community and has held leadership roles on several nonprofit boards and professional organizations. For her professional and civic efforts, she was honored as a 2017 Top Women in Law, she is a 2015 ATHENA Young Professional Award® finalist, a 2011 Forty Under 40 honoree, and was selected by the Democrat & Chronicle as one of Rochester's Emerging African American Leaders in 2009.
