RIT’s research division hosts PI Reception event March 21

Honorees from across campus will be celebrated for external award funding

Faculty researchers will be celebrated for new funding awards and innovative projects they are leading at the upcoming PI Reception on March 21.

RIT’s Principal Investigator Reception, a celebration of campus researchers and initiatives, takes place 3-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, in the University Gallery, located in the Booth Building, Room 2700.

The annual event which recognizes faculty and staff who have received external research funding, will honor its newest class of PI Millionaires, a group of faculty researchers that have surpassed $1 million in career funding at RIT. Also being recognized are faculty awardees who have received seed funding through the Grant Writer’s Bootcamp initiative.

“The exemplary growth in our sponsored research funding over the past few years has been made possible by the hard work of our faculty and support by our sponsored research staff,” said Ryne Raffaelle, vice president for research and associate provost. “We will celebrate not only their success in attaining funding from some of the most competitive government agencies and national organizations but, most importantly, the impact they have made through important research they have done and are continuing to do.”

Since 2001, RIT has recognized its accomplished faculty-researchers through the annual PI Reception. There are currently 341 principal investigators and researchers with active projects. During the pandemic, the event was on hold, so the awardees from 2019-2021 will also be recognized at this year’s reception. New this year—representatives from each of RIT’s Signature Research areas will be on hand to share current work underway and to connect with new faculty looking to participate as part of these collaborative communities.

Interpreters have been requested for the event.
