Researchers from five colleges at RIT are testing a new way to deliver mental health therapy to people struggling with alcohol/drug addiction and aggressive behavior. RIT is running a randomized clinical trial with the Food and Drug Administration to test the therapy platform “RITchCBT” as a tool for treating people whose substance use disorders have led to intimate partner violence.

RIT behavioral health researchers are providing remote mental health care and addiction therapy to rural communities in New York and New Hampshire and training for therapists to deploy the digital treatments at their clinics.

Caroline Easton, director of the RIT Priority Behavioral Health and Clinical Psychology program, was awarded $100,000 from the Buffalo-based Patrick P. Lee Foundation to create a new clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship.

The $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has expanded RIT’s accredited Priority Behavioral Health and Clinical Psychology Internship program to focus on delivering integrated care for young clients who struggle with substance use, mental health issues, and trauma from exposure to high rates of violence within the community.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HRSA) awarded Dr. Caroline Easton close to $1.4 Million Dollars. HRSA designated her as an awardee for the Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program designed to Advance the Field of Addiction Treatments within the Profession of Clinical Psychology.
