Lou Ann Wyer ’82, MS ‘07 completed her AS in medical technology from Monroe Community College, her BS in clinical technology and MS in health systems administration from RIT.
The bulk of her career was spent as a clinical specialist within Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Virginia where she helped spearhead state-wide organization for point-of-care coordinators to provide education and networking opportunities and facilitated the first ever electronic delivery of point of care education opportunities across nation.
She also developed the Point of Care Testing (POCT) department, gaining international recognition for this successful model. She directed a team for POCT, lab safety and lab quality at eight hospitals and multiple off-site facilities.
Lou Ann served as the laboratory director for Sentara Healthcare in 2012 where she directed teams across 12 hospitals in V.A. and N.C. in fully consolidated anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and reference laboratories before retiring in 2019.
