Incoming Graduate/Transfer Move-In Fall 2023

Welcome Graduate and Transfer Students!

We look forward to helping you get settled in your new home for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Move-In Dates

Incoming student move-in is by appointment only.

All students living on campus are required to select a Move-In Appointment time prior to arriving on campus.

Move-In appointment times will be available Mid-July. 

  • August 18, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • August 19, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

 Make Your Appointment

Use the button above to navigate to the myLife portal. After logging in with your RIT username and password, follow the steps below to make your appointment time. 

  • Click on the Housing and Dining Application button
  • Click on the 24-25 Application Year
  • Navigate to "Next Steps"
  • Click on Move-In Appointment Time Info in the dropdown menu
  • Select an appointment time to move-in

Time slots are essential to alleviate congestion and ensure students and families have adequate time to unload vehicles and transport items to their rooms. We will have limited carts on hand to assist students in unloading vehicles. Vehicles will be directed to designated parking areas to provide space for students in later time slots.

Pre-Arrival to Campus

Don’t leave home without a photo ID!

You must have a photo ID in order to be issued your RIT housing key.

Access your room assignment, roommate information, meal plan, and mailing address under My Assignment in the myLife portal. All move-in information can be found by clicking on the My Move-In icon from the My Assignment page.

  1. Navigate to the myLife portal
  2. Log in with your username and password
  3. Click on the My Assignment Button

Please print your Move-In Dashboard Pass the night before your arrival and place it on your dashboard for move-in. To find your Move-In Appointment Time, Move-In Dashboard Pass and Luggage Tags follow the steps above to the My Assignment page in the myLife portal and click the My Move-In button. Dashboard passes will be available on August 1st, 2024.

Arrival

Check-In and Key Pick Up

  • It is essential to arrive on your selected day and time.
  • Time slots are essential to alleviate congestion and provide the best move in experience for all.
  • If you arrive outside your designated appointment time, you may be asked to leave and return at the correct time. 
  • You must have a photo ID in order to be issued your RIT Housing key.
  • Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass ready for check-in. 
Key Pick Up Location
  • Residence Hall, Global Village, and Apartment assigned students will check-in and pick-up their keys in Lots G and H.
  • RIT Inn students will check-in and pick up their key at the front desk of the RIT Inn.
  • 175 Jefferson students will check-in and pick up their key at the front desk of 175 Jefferson.
  • *Global Village 405 students can proceed to their assignment and complete a self-check in. 
    • *If you are assigned to Global Village 405, you have keyless entry with your RIT ID card. You will receive an email prior to your arrival with instructions on how to complete a self check-in needed to gain entry to the building.
Register for Welcome Days Weather Alerts
  • Please sign up to receive Welcome Days weather alerts. Important announcements regarding inclement weather emergencies will be communicated through our text alert system. Text RITORI to 888777 to receive text alerts.
  • Encourage any family members or friends who will be on campus with you to sign up for weather alerts, as well.

Late Arrivals

If you experience travel difficulties on the day of your appointment that impact your ability to arrive during your appointment time and arrive after 6 p.m., Please check in at the RIT Housing office located in Grace Watson Hall. If you arrive after 11 p.m., you will be required to locate alternative housing for the night at a local hotel.

Move-In

Students living in the Residence Halls, Global Village, and Apartments:

  • Once you check in and pick up your housing key, you will leave Lot G and H, and will proceed to your assigned location. 
  • Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass printed and displayed on your dashboard at all times.
  • Residence Hall assigned student will follow the drop zone map. Please check your Move-In Dashboard Pass to determine the color of your drop zone. On-campus signage will direct you to the corresponding drop zone to begin your move-in process.  
  • Download your drop zone map under printable resources to help you navigate where you will unload your luggage. Drop zone map
Important Information:
  • You will be allowed 2 guests to assist in the drop-off zones and moving into the building.
  • Students do not need to be completely moved in before the end of their appointment time.
  • Carts will be available at the Residence Halls drop zones and at the RIT Inn. 
  • Once your vehicle is unloaded, you will be asked to move to a designated parking area.
