Students assigned to the RIT Inn & Conference Center will check in and pick up their key at the front desk at the RIT Inn.

Students assigned to 175 Jefferson will check in and pick up their key at the front desk of 175 Jefferson. 

Students assigned to Global Village 405 have keyless entry with your RIT ID card. You will receive an email prior to your arrival with instructions on how to complete a self check-in needed to gain entry to the building.

• RIT strongly encourages all students to maintain insurance coverage for their personal possessions while attending school. RIT assumes no responsibility for losses of students' personal belongings.
• RIT is pleased to offer Personal Property Insurance through Gallagher Student Insurance. The College Student Property & Renters Insurance is underwritten by Allianz and offers several different limits and deductible options providing students greater flexibility to select the type and amount of coverage that best serves their needs. All GSI policyholders are automatically eligible to purchase ALL risk coverage for photography-related equipment that is rented or borrowed for short term periods up to an additional $25,000 in value per occurrence.
• The plans are available through Gallagher Student Insurance (888-411-4911). Please refer to their website for additional details and exclusions. Also included are annual rates, additional general information about the program, and an application form.

Mainstream floors encourage intentional interaction between hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing students while providing opportunities to learn from each other by sharing a floor. Mainstream floors are located in Sol Heumann Hall, Mark Ellingson Hall, Peter Peterson Hall, and Residence Hall D.

RIT Housing does not assign hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing students as roommates unless both students request an assignment together. Students may be placed on a mainstream floor without requesting this option.

The RAs assigned to these floors have varying American Sign Language skill levels, and are inclusive of all residents who select or are placed in this housing option. RAs may be hearing or deaf/hard of hearing.

Residence Halls, Global Village, Perkins Green, and Greek Circle beds are twin extra-long beds. University Commons and RIT Inn are full-size beds.

No pets are allowed except for fish. Piranhas, oscars, and other carnivorous fish are not allowed. The tank size may not be larger than 10 gallons.

All of RIT housing has wireless internet connection. Additionally, all RIT housing, with the exception of Riverknoll apartments, have high-speed Ethernet jacks. If you are assigned to Ellingson Hall, Peterson Hall, or Residence Hall D and want to utilize the Ethernet jacks, you will need to bring a 15-foot Ethernet cable with you.

To access the RIT network, you must have an RIT computer account and agree to abide by the RIT code of conduct for computer and network use. Students are responsible for protecting their own computer systems with UL-approved surge protectors.

RIT allows students to bring a car to campus. Having a car is not required or necessary. Alternate modes of transportation include the free on and off-campus shuttle, bicycling, ride-sharing, and walking. RIT Transportation Services offers a robust schedule of shuttles for both on and off-campus travels. Shuttle services are available for transportation between the Residential areas and academic areas on campus.  Students in RIT Housing are required to register their vehicle and purchase a Residential Permit.  Please note Residential permits do not allow for parking outside of assigned residential lots on weekdays between 5 a.m.-5 p.m., including parking lots near the academic side of campus.

Vehicle registrations are required to be processed within the first few days of arrival to campus. To register your vehicle online, visit the RIT Parking portal.
