The Anchor

Context: Some individuals have a tendency to slip out of their position in seating devices. Often times, stools do not provide a sense of physical security/stability.

Problem: Design a seating device that securely holds a user in position.

Solution: A bowl-shape is employed to prevent the user from ‘spilling’ out. A tripod based is used to create the most stable condition, and a low center of gravity offers additional insurance.

Brand Strategy: The Wilsonart sample chip icon is placed as a seating target and focal point in the stool, reinforcing the central role of the laminate surfacing. The chip is ‘folded’ to highlight the faceted visual identity of the bowl-shaped seat.
