Through the efforts of PEN-International affiliates, Korean Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled (KEPAD) and Korean Nazarene University, PEN-International was well represented at the 24th National Skill Contest for the Disabled and Korea Assistive Technology Device Fair 2007, held in Pusan, Korea, August 31 - September 3, 2007.
This important, national, gathering of experts in disability and access technology provided an opportunity for KEPAD, KNU and PEN-international to share recent accomplishments and plans with attendees by means of hands-on demonstrations, posters and descriptive materials.
Mongolia, Bhutan, Indonesia, Fiji, and the Philippines also participated in this year's invitational training, conducted through a partnership between Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled and the International Labor Organization. During an associated festival, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Labor, the City of Busan and organized by KEPAD, a variety of events were conducted during the 4 day gathering. Events included a scholastic exhibit, assistive technology device displays, an art exhibit, and the '24th National Skill Contest of the Disabled'.
