On 28 January 2005, the second conference for the establishment of the Postsecondary Education Program Network of Japan (PEPNet-Japan) was held at the headquarters of The Nippon Foundation (Tokyo, Japan). The meeting was attended by 13 delegates from 11 institutions. Also present were 7 faculty members from Tsukuba College of Technology and representatives of The Nippon Foundation.
During the meeting, the report of a nationwide survey regarding student services for students who are deaf (conducted by PEPNet-Japan and TCT) was shared. Given the needs of deaf students and the challenges they face in postsecondary education, the mission and goals of PEPNet-Japan were reconfirmed by the meeting participants. In addition, the potential outcomes for PEPNet-Japan were proposed by the representatives of those institutions represented at the meeting. Finally, participants agreed that PEPNet-Japan should be fully implemented as soon as possible.
