First PEPNet-Japan Organizing Conference Held at TCT
On 29 October 2004, the first conference for the establishment of a Postsecondary Education Program Network of Japan was held at Tsukuba College of Technology. The purpose of this meeting was to promote collaboration among postsecondary educational institutions serving deaf men and women in Japan and to establish a supporting system for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The meetings were attended by 12 delegates from 11 institutions from across Japan. In addition, six faculty and staff people from TCT attended the sessions.
It was resolved that PEPNet-Japan will hold a conference regularly and share information regarding developments at partner institutions. Delegates also toured TCT, and exchanged information regarding strategies to support deaf and hard of hearing students.
