David Conyer, executive producer of Educational Design Resources at NTID, showed "Silence with a Touch, Living with Usher Syndrome" at the Fourth International Moscow Disability Film Festival - Breaking Down Barriers (Nov. 14-17, 2008).
The 2006 documentary features children, college students and adults who are born deaf with Usher Syndrome, a genetic condition which also causes them to gradually lose vision.
Conyer is one of four producers from around the world invited to show and discuss their videos at the film festival. With help from the Ford Foundation, Conyer also gave a master class during the festival.
In 2007, the documentary won the Award of Excellence from The Communicator Awards, an international program that recognizes creative excellence in the communication field.
Conyer's trip to Russia was sponsored in part by the Postsecondary Education Network, based at NTID. As a part of PEN-International, PEN-Russia was established in 2005; five colleges in Russia are in the partnership.
