On 6 October, Drs. DeCaro and Hurwitz and Professor Clymer visited with President Sasakawa of The Nippon Foundation. At the meeting, Mr. Sasakawa was briefed as regards progress in the development of PEPNet-Japan and progress regarding the 2006 Student Leadership Summer Institute that will be held in England. Further, Dr. DeCaro provided President Sasakawa with an overview of the research PEN has been conducting in China in an effort to provide recommendations for the next five-year education plan for the country. Sasakawa san suggested that he would introduce Drs. DeCaro and Hurwitz to Deng Pufung and members of the Ministry of Education so that the report could be presented to key policy makers in China in person.
