On 21 December, President Ding Youg led a six- person delegation from the Nanjing Technical College of Special Education in Nanjing, China, to visit NTID and PEN-International in order to discuss areas of mutual interest to both programs. After a busy morning of meetings with key members of NTID's leadership team, the delegation had a working lunch with Dr. James DeCaro, interim president of NTID, to discuss future cooperation. The primary areas of potential collaboration are curriculum development, training faculty, and interpreter education and training. It was informally agreed that the training of teachers of interpreters should be given priority, given the importance of the Nanjing program in interpreter training and the national need in China. Discussion of any formal agreements will occur within the organizational structure of PEN-China.
