On November 22 and 23 a series of workshops were conducted by the PEN-International Bauman team in the multimedia lab in Moscow. Participants were 21 audiologists and instructors, from various regions of Russia, who work with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Emilia Ivanovna Leongard, a leading Russian scientific specialist on deafness, helped develop and offer one of the workshops and participated in the other. Workshops focused upon the special education needs of the students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing within the context of a technical university and the use of educational technologies to meet those special needs.
