This week of ten, 3 hour workshops has been specially designed to provide the visiting faculty of Tianjin University of Technology with training in deaf education and the use of online learning technology at the university level. The workshops have been developed by senior members of the NTID faculty, based upon their years of experience in deaf education and instructional technology. The objectives and activities of all the workshops reflect the expressed needs of the teaching faculty who will be visiting NTID from Tianjin University of Technology.

Six members of the Tianjin University of Technology were selected by the TUT Director to receive training at NTID because of their excellence in teaching and their willingness to learn about and share with their colleagues NTID, approaches to teaching and learning. Five of the six have advanced degrees. They teach mechanical engineering, computer science, computer applications, computer assisted design, English and fashion design. They are interested in learning about NTID's approaches to teaching, classroom communication, course development and integrating technology into the classroom and instructional computer labs.
The NTID faculty who developed, and will deliver the workshops, come from a variety of NTID academic, research, communication, sign language and technical support departments. As senior members of NTID's faculty and staff they are international leaders in their areas of specialty and have experience in teaching in diverse cultures.
The six members of the Tianjin delegation will be visiting NTID from June 22-30, 2002. Their complete workshop and visitation schedule is listed in full detail.
The TUT faculty have a full week of workshops and learning activities. This schedule displays all workshop titles, presenters, locations and schedule day and times. From the schedule grid, it is possible to access each workshop description, materials used during the workshops and suggested supplemental readings. Photos of each session are also included.
These seminars will provide the opportunity for the technical experts from both universities to meet with technical experts from NTID to discuss and share information related to networking, computer labs, smart classroom technology, and video conferencing. Discussions will be based on the expressed needs of the international partners and will be flexible so that questions can be fully answered.
