On Monday, October 16th, 2006, from 7 - 8:30 p.m., the four NTID/RIT students who participated in PEN-International's first-ever Leadership Institute for postsecondary deaf and hard-of-hearing students - Michelle Koplitz, Jeremy Quiroga, Lizzie Sorkin, and Christopher Samp, gave a community-wide presentation on their week-long experience in England in August. This was done through showing video clips, photos, Powerpoint presentations, and a large collage approximately 4 feet by 4 feet in size. The students shared touching and inspirational stories about their experiences, learning and interactions with deaf students from PEN partner institutions in Russia, the Philippines, China, and Japan. Approximately 50 people attended, and there was a lengthy question-and-answer period, with tremendous interest in the next Summer Leadership Institute planned for 2008. A reception followed the presentation, which was sponsored by RIT's Student Affairs department.
